About The Position

Thomas Cuisine is seeking a friendly and dependable Cashier/Retail Associate to join the dining team at West Valley College in Saratoga, California. The role supports a campus dining environment by preparing food and beverages, operating the register, and keeping the retail space clean, welcoming, and organized. The associate serves students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors, contributing to a positive dining experience as part of a supportive team.

This is a full-time position with Monday–Thursday schedules between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Compensation is $19 per hour. The work takes place in a kitchen and retail environment, with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and vibration may occur. Employees need stamina to stand for extended periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks. Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Basic math and cash-handling skills.
• Compliance with healthcare facility policies and hygiene standards.
• High school diploma or GED.
• ServSafe® Certification and a State Food Handlers Card.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register with an accuracy of 99.85% (plus or minus).
• Set up the appropriate cashier bank.
• Document cash received and charges made.
• Identify customer needs and refer them to the appropriate department for follow-up when necessary.
• Collect data for cash control.
• Stock refrigerators with beverages, condiments, and other items.
• Clean, sanitize, and polish general work areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and removing trash.
• Prepare and gather items needed for meal service.
• Provide exceptional service to all guests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
