About The Position

The Cart Clerk gathers carts from the parking lot and provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. The role includes collecting carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher, picking up litter, handling recycling containers, and performing other related duties as assigned. Work takes place outdoors in varying weather and in a 24/7 store operation.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers and exhibit customer relations skills.
Work varied hours primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Walk, push, pull, and maneuver grocery carts weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Reach in front and bend to pick up items at ground level; stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods.
Work outdoors in cold, hot, and inclement weather.
Maintain awareness of surroundings for parking-lot safety and see carts that need to be gathered.
Learn safety and department policies and procedures; hear audible requests such as pages and customer questions.
Lift up to 40 pounds often from the floor to 6 feet high and maneuver up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Wear a reflective vest while outside.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
Obtain Food Handlers Certification where required by state law.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers; provide friendly, enthusiastic service to internal and external customers.
Gather, guide, assemble, and collect carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher, including stray carts in the parking lot and store.
Pick up litter from the grounds, planters, and cart room.
Empty recycling machine containers into the proper glass, aluminum, and plastic bins, and maneuver or stack bins for pickup.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
