About The Position

The Cart Clerk gathers carts from the parking lot and store, provides friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers, and performs other related duties. The role involves manually gathering carts and using a remote-controlled cart pusher, picking up litter, emptying recycling machine containers into the appropriate bins, and maneuvering or stacking bins for pickup. Employees work varied hours in a 24/7 operation, primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also requires working outdoors in cold, hot, and inclement weather and maintaining awareness of surroundings for safety.

Requirements

Consistently provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
Work varied hours primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Walk, push, pull, and maneuver grocery carts weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
Reach in front and bend to pick up items at ground level.
Stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods of time.
Work outdoors in cold, hot, and inclement weather.
Maintain awareness of surroundings for safety in the parking lot and be able to see carts that need to be gathered.
Exhibit customer relations skills and hear audible requests, such as pages and customer questions.
Learn safety and department policies and procedures.
Lift up to 40 lbs. often from floor level to 6 feet high and maneuver up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
Wear a reflective vest while outside.
Be at least 16 years of age.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
Obtain Food Handlers Certification as required by state laws.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers; provide friendly, courteous customer service.
Gather, guide, assemble, and collect stray carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher.
Pick up litter from the grounds, planters, and cart room.
Gather stray carts from inside the store.
Empty recycling machine containers into the proper glass, aluminum, and plastic bins.
Maneuver and stack bins for pickup.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
