About The Position

The Cart Clerk gathers carts from the parking lot and store, provides friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers, and performs related duties. The position involves collecting and assembling carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher, picking up litter, emptying recycling-machine containers into appropriate bins, and maneuvering bins for pickup. The role requires working outdoors in varied weather and maintaining awareness of surroundings for safety.

Requirements

Consistently provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
Work varied hours primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Walk, push, pull, and maneuver grocery carts weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Reach in front and bend to pick up items at ground level.
Stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods.
Work outdoors in cold, hot, and inclement weather.
Maintain awareness of surroundings for safety in the parking lot and identify carts needing to be gathered.
Demonstrate customer-relations skills.
Learn safety and department policies and procedures.
Hear audible requests, including pages and customer questions.
Lift up to 40 pounds often from floor level to 6 feet high and maneuver up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Wear a reflective vest while outside.
Be at least 16 years of age.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
Obtain food handlers certification as required by state law.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Gather carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher; guide, assemble, and collect stray carts.
Pick up litter from the grounds, planters, and cart room.
Gather stray carts inside the store.
Empty recycling-machine containers into the proper glass, aluminum, and plastic bins.
Maneuver and stack bins for pickup.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
