About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled carpentry tasks in the construction, alteration, and repair of District buildings and facilities; performs related work as required. This position is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of District facilities. Work involves a variety of carpentry tasks including framing, drywall, roofing, concrete, masonry, and general maintenance. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, adhering to safety regulations and District standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in carpentry or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of journey-level experience in carpentry.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of carpentry principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools and equipment common to the carpentry trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow safety regulations and District standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a valid Nevada State Contractor’s license.
  • Experience in a school district or public agency maintenance setting.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of District facilities.
  • Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs forms for concrete work.
  • Installs and repairs drywall, plaster, and other wall surfaces.
  • Performs roofing and re-roofing tasks, including shingle and membrane application.
  • Works with concrete and masonry, including pouring, finishing, and repairing.
  • Installs and repairs doors, windows, hardware, and related components.
  • Performs rough and finish carpentry, including framing, sheathing, and trim work.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools and equipment common to the carpentry trade.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Follows safety regulations and District standards in all work performed.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
