About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of carpentry and maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and functionality of district facilities. The role involves new construction, alterations, and repairs to buildings and structures, including framing, roofing, flooring, and finishing work. The Carpenter will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing doors, windows, locks, and hardware, as well as performing preventative maintenance and responding to emergency repair needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in carpentry or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a journey-level carpenter.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a school district or similar public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of various building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Certification in specific trade skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry work, including new construction, alterations, and repairs to buildings and structures.
  • Install and repair framing, roofing, flooring, drywall, and finishing materials.
  • Maintain and repair doors, windows, locks, and hardware.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Operate hand and power tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety regulations and procedures.
