About The Position

A Barback is a bartender’s assistant who works behind the bar alongside bartenders and performs many duties similar to theirs. The position supports bar operations by keeping supplies stocked, helping bartenders, and maintaining clean and organized bar areas. It is a full-time role with a flexible AM or PM schedule, Monday through Sunday, including holidays.

Requirements

Effectively interact and communicate in English with people from diverse backgrounds.
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
Perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Apply common-sense understanding to detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Possess a valid Louisiana permit to serve alcohol, or be available and willing to attend a Responsible Vendor’s class and pass the test with a score of 80% or better.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have at least one year of customer service experience.
Have at least one year of high-volume restaurant or bar experience.
Demonstrate the listed competencies, including problem solving, technical skills, customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork, adaptability, dependability, professionalism, safety awareness, and quality management.

Responsibilities

Get ice for all wells.
Prepare fruit trays and maintain backups.
Restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices, and other needed supplies, ensuring sufficient backups for the shift.
Check draft beers to ensure kegs are working properly.
Change empty kegs.
Make sure the bar is clean before opening.
Wipe the bar top regularly.
Help the bartender with anything needed.
Keep the beer cooler clean and organized.
Perform other duties as assigned.
