About The Position

Avenues Home Care caregivers provide care to elderly, vulnerable, and disabled clients, often people who cannot care for themselves. Caregivers place client needs first and provide services according to each client’s plan of care. The Chattanooga office serves the local area, including Jasper, Cleveland, Signal Mountain, Dayton, Ooltewah, Hixson, and communities in Georgia. The role includes assisting clients with activities of daily living and other household and personal-care needs. Caregivers report daily activity to a supervisor through the agency management system and activity logs, and use other communication methods as needed. They are expected to work safely, protect client confidentiality, follow company policies and procedures, and promptly report suspected abuse, neglect, safety issues, or changes in a client’s condition. The posting lists full-time, part-time, PRN, and short-shift opportunities, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must maintain an established work schedule.
Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
Must have effective organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Must maintain a fit-for-duty physical condition.
Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
Must be able to lift or push up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must be able to follow verbal and written assignments.
Must demonstrate proficiency with the home care company management system, ClearCare.
Must demonstrate honesty, accountability, and integrity.

Nice To Haves

CNA license or alternate experience as a caregiver.
CPR and First Aid certifications.
Reliable transportation.
Prior experience assisting with activities of daily living or caring for elderly, disabled, or other vulnerable clients.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with activities of daily living as specified in their plans of care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, toileting, transferring, eating, and continence care.
Assist with medication, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, feeding, shopping, transportation to and from appointments, and companionship.
Complete other household tasks specified in the client’s plan of care.
Report daily activity to a supervisor through the agency management system and daily activity logs, and communicate through other available methods as needed.
Practice safety in all activities involving clients and report unsafe working conditions or behavior.
Provide superior care and remain alert to potential care concerns or changes in a client’s condition.
Report suspected abuse or neglect immediately through the proper chain of command, as required by law.
Document unusual behavior, events, conditions, or people.
Maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence, and other information, including information covered by company confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
Maintain personal appearance in accordance with company policies and dress code.
Report on time for shifts and communicate scheduling changes promptly.
Attend meetings and in-services as requested and follow company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
