About The Position

The Scoping Specialist directs and executes the Transmission project scoping process, defining the electrical and physical scope of transmission capital projects to develop cost-effective configurations for TVA and satisfy local power companies and direct-served customers. The role identifies in-house and contracted plans, manages scoping workshop schedules, and builds and maintains relationships with internal TVA stakeholders, contract partners, local power companies, direct-served customers, government agencies, and the public. The position coordinates and leads on-site reviews and inspections, scoping workshops, problem resolution, and evaluation of cost and schedule impacts for scope changes during the project scoping phase. It also oversees development and completion of workshop deliverables for finalized project scopes, schedules, and budget estimates, and supports lessons learned and performance management.

This is a hybrid role for candidates in or around Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, or a technical field, or equivalent education, training, and/or related work experience.
• Criminal background check.
• Pre-placement drug screening.
• REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, or a U.S. passport that clearly displays its issuance date, expiration date, and color photo image.

Nice To Haves

• Five or more years of utility experience, or equivalent functional-area work experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Experience in transmission planning, the transmission project process, or facilitating project scoping workshops.
• Experience interfacing with Local Power Companies, TVA direct-served customers, government agencies, and/or the general public.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with internal TVA stakeholders, contract partners, local power companies, TVA direct-served customers, government agencies, and the general public.
• Coordinate and lead on-site reviews and inspections, project scoping workshops, and problem resolution.
• Evaluate cost and schedule impacts of scope changes during the project scoping phase.
• Oversee and coordinate development and completion of scoping workshop deliverables for finalized project scopes, schedules, and budget estimates.
• Support lessons learned and performance management.
