About The Position

Preferred Care at Home of Central Fairfield is seeking compassionate and dedicated experienced caregivers to provide personalized care and support to clients in their homes in Newtown, Connecticut. Caregivers use their own vehicle to run local errands and pick up groceries or prescriptions, helping clients maintain independence and quality of life.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of caregiver experience, preferably in a home care setting.
• Ability to pass a thorough background check and drug screening.
• Solid knowledge of and experience with caregiver skills and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion, patience, and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays.
• Must drive and have a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Provide medication reminders and assist with transfers and fall prevention.
• Assist with meal planning and preparation.
• Perform light housekeeping, including laundry and dishes.
• Monitor clients’ health and report changes or concerns to appropriate parties.
• Provide emotional support and companionship.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the care team.
• Follow company policies and procedures to support client safety and well-being.
• Drive a personal vehicle for local errands and client-related transportation, such as picking up groceries or prescriptions.
