About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) encourages personal growth in adults with developmental disabilities through goal-based support. DSPs also provide daily living support to KIM clients in their homes and in the community, motivating and encouraging clients toward their goals in accordance with the Residential Service Guidelines. Part-time and full-time positions are available. The shift is to be determined. Pay is $17.50–$20.50 per hour, depending on home site and client needs.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 18 years old.
• Clear a criminal background check before working alone and unsupervised with clients.
• Valid driver’s license or State ID.
• Ability to follow instructions, organize, and set priorities.
• Strong active listening, writing, speaking, and reading-comprehension skills.
• Ability to engage in critical thinking.

Nice To Haves

• Intermediate experience supporting living, preferably with adults with developmental or other disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Help clients use emotional and behavioral regulation techniques outlined in their individual plans.
• Support clients in achieving personal and program goals, and document goal completions and denials.
• Assist clients with money management, including petty cash, receipts, checkbooks, and EBTs.
• Administer clients’ medications correctly and document medication administration.
• Transport clients to and from activities and appointments, or arrange transportation services as appropriate.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly forms, reports, and data sheets.
• Supervise clients’ daily activities and living conditions to support their health and safety.
• Assist with daily hygiene as specified in individual care plans, including brushing teeth, bathing, hair washing, and toileting.
• Assist clients with cooking, eating meals, and grocery shopping.
