About The Position
Orange Grove Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The position involves providing clinical care, building relationships, promoting wellness, recognizing individual needs, and helping individuals live healthier, more fulfilling lives. The nurse also supports direct care staff and collaborates with colleagues and other care professionals. The role is based at Orange Grove Center’s headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and offers a flexible shift. The posted hourly salary range is $22.50–$23.50. A $2,500 hiring bonus is offered in installments—$500 after 90 days, $1,000 after six months, and $1,000 after one year—subject to eligibility requirements and official program terms.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved LPN nursing program.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Social Security card.
- Acceptable three-year motor vehicle report.
- F endorsement on driver’s license, 30 days post job offer.
- Compassionate and caring demeanor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of relevant LPN clinical experience is preferred.
- Experience working with developmental disabilities is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing services for assigned individuals and support to direct care staff.
- Communicate individuals’ physician and nursing care plans to staff and assist with implementing medical doctor and nurse practitioner orders in accordance with the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act.
- Assist the attending physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse with examinations and treatment by interviewing individuals and others as necessary to obtain medical information and history and help determine the extent of an injury or illness.
- Monitor required documentation and complete all required documents in a timely manner.
- Transcribe information into individuals’ chart records.
- Take vital signs and perform other tests, such as glucose monitoring, as required by a physician.
- Respond to individuals in acute distress.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
