About The Position

The Career Preparation Instructor teaches in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in a designated subject area. The instructor meets SMART goals established by management each program year and maintains classroom discipline to support student learning and motivation. The role builds rapport with students and uses available curriculum resources. It is also responsible for classroom preparation, student folders, daily attendance, and maintaining student personnel folders.

The role is based at the Laredo Job Corps Center in Laredo, Texas. Job Corps is a nationwide residential career training program that helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete high school, train for careers, and obtain employment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check is required as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Education, preferably with a major in English, Social Studies, or a related field.
• One year of teaching experience, preferably with disadvantaged youth.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
