About The Position

The Career Center Resource Assistant supports a comprehensive career and college readiness program by assisting students with post-secondary planning, career exploration, and individualized guidance activities. Collaborates with staff, families, and community partners to strengthen student support systems and expand opportunities for work-based learning, internships, and apprenticeships.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Strong technology, communication and research skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in career development preferred
  • Prior experience working with High School students and some post-secondary education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the school counselor during peak periods by assisting students and parents with registration and course selection based on graduation requirements and academic goals.
  • Research accredited universities, technical colleges, CTE/ apprenticeship programs for educational program information, entrance requirements, scholarships, grants and student loan information.
  • Schedules post-secondary education visits for students.
  • Assists school counselors with groups or individual students through the development of educational and career plans.
  • As assigned, provide individualized support for students with developmental needs in identifying post-secondary pathways (i.e. job readiness, apprenticeship, work-based learning, etc.)
  • Assist with conducting career counseling activities in the classroom in conjunction with administration and teachers.
  • Consult with teachers to facilitate the infusion of counseling learning activities into the regular education curricula. This includes but is not limited to career inventory systems (such as the Montana Career Inventory System and Level All), collegiate systems (how to apply, FAFSA, scholarships, determining how to find a school of best fit, etc.) and how to utilize an apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, or internship to gain valuable work experience.
  • Serves as the school representative to Community Coalitions when asked by supervisor.
  • Works closely with CTE, and other career cluster areas, to monitor student involvement in WBL areas and needs.
  • Connect students with relevant work-based learning experiences including job shadows, internships, and pre-apprenticeships.
  • Other duties as assigned.
