Care Team Assistant - Surgery - La Jolla
About The Position
The Care Team Assistant works under the direction of an RN and Surgical Technologist to assist with care of perioperative patients and operating room preparation. The role includes helping prepare rooms, equipment, and supplies; supporting patient positioning and transport; and completing room turnover housekeeping between cases. The assistant provides service as a member of the clinical care team, supports patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and helps maintain a safe, organized environment. The role also supports patient care within the permitted scope and under clinician direction, along with patient logistics, clerical, equipment and supply, and charge reconciliation duties. This is a full-time position of 72 hours per pay period, working a 12-hour day shift at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.
Nice To Haves
- Multiple patient care skills preferred.
- Prefer one year of experience in a health care-related field, sterile processing, patient transport, or equivalent responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with operating room bed setups.
- Assist with equipment and supplies.
- Perform housekeeping duties to turn over rooms between cases.
- Assist with positioning patients for procedures.
- Assist with transporting patients.
- Assist with transporting laboratory items and specimens.
- Provide excellent service to patients as a member of the clinical care team.
- Assist patients with personal needs and activities of daily living.
- Collect data and help ensure patients have a safe, organized environment.
- Assist with patient care within the permitted scope and under the direction of a clinician.
- Support the unit with patient logistics, clerical, equipment and supply, and charge reconciliation duties.
