Patient Care Assistant - Medical/Oncology - La Jolla - Nights
About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is a key member of the Medical/Oncology clinical care team at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The PCA provides excellent service to patients by assisting with personal needs and activities of daily living, collecting data, and ensuring that patients have a safe, organized environment. The PCA assists with patient care within the permitted scope and under the direction of a clinician. The role also supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical duties, equipment and supply tasks, and charge reconciliation. This is a full-time position of 72 hours per pay period (every two weeks), scheduled for 12-hour night shifts on variable days of the week, including rotating weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
- Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a service aptitude.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.
Nice To Haves
- CNA certification.
- One year of patient-related experience preferred.
