About The Position

The Medical Oncology Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses and helping maintain a safe, healing environment. The role gathers vital information and clinical data, reports changes in patients’ conditions to the nursing team, and contributes to patient and family-centered care. The position is on an inpatient medical oncology unit at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 32-bed all-private unit caring for medical, oncology, and palliative care patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and patient information, and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document all provided patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
