About The Position

The Medical Oncology Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses and helping maintain a safe, healing, patient- and family-centered environment. The role collects clinical information and vital signs, reports changes in patient condition to the nursing team, and contributes to each patient's overall assessment. The position is on a 32-bed inpatient medical oncology unit caring for medical, oncology, and palliative care patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision in a patient- and family-centered healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
