About The Position

Newton Village Assisted Living, a Cassia community, is hiring a part-time Care Attendant. The position provides person-centered care to residents and supports their activities of daily living, promoting dignity, independence, and well-being. Training is provided. Available shifts are days from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and evenings from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The position is located at 110 N 5th Ave W, Newton, Iowa 50208. Care Attendants help residents maintain the highest possible level of performance and independence. Duties include personal care, medication administration, delegated treatments, taking and recording vital signs, documenting services in a computerized charting system, and reporting changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition. The role is part of a supportive, team-focused environment at a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for older adults.

Requirements

Medication certification is required.
A passion for geriatric care.
Strong communication skills to interact with residents and staff.
Ability to work a consistent work schedule.
Ability to maintain confidential information.

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in a similar setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Help residents reach and maintain the highest level of performance and independence while assisting with personal care and activities of daily living.
Assist with medication administration.
Assist with treatments delegated by the Registered Nurse according to each resident’s individualized care plan.
Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration as instructed; report changes or concerns to the RN.
Document services performed using a computerized charting system.
Observe residents and report changes in physical or emotional condition, including changes in attitude, reactions, or appetite, to the supervisor.
Assist residents with personal care, including shampooing hair and showering or bathing.
Perform additional tasks as needed.
