About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Cardiovascular Technologist (OR CVOR Tech) in Plattsburgh, NY, starting on 11/02/2026 for a duration of 16–26 weeks. The role involves working in a hospital operating room with the CVOR team, with a shift of 3x12-hour days. This is a temporary employment opportunity.

Requirements

  • Active New York state license (Cardiovascular Technologist or Surgical Technologist)
  • BLS certification
  • NBSTSA surgical tech certification (or NBSTSA equivalency) required
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
  • 2 years in CVOR or related OR specialty
  • Vascular skills are a MUST
  • Solid knowledge in ortho, robotics, general surgery, ENT, plastics, and neuro procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced OR environment
  • Capable of circulating and scrubbing
  • Strong teamwork and communication
  • Documentation experience in EPIC
  • Able to follow unit protocols and support perioperative flow

Nice To Haves

  • CNOR preferred but not required
  • Prior travel experience preferred
  • Work history from facilities of similar size and with Trauma Level II or higher

Responsibilities

  • Circulate and scrub for CVOR cases as assigned; prepare and maintain sterile fields; manage instrumentation trays and supplies; assist surgical teams across vascular, ortho, robotics, general, ENT, plastics, and neuro procedures.
  • Document perioperative activity in EPIC; support medication documentation and administration within the EPIC system; ensure accurate counts and specimen handling.
  • Monitor patient safety and positioning; coordinate patient transports when needed; collaborate with circulating RN, anesthesia, and anesthesia technologists during cases.
  • Provide IV starts when required; assist with prep, draping, and instrument management; uphold standard infection prevention and sterile technique throughout cases.
  • Rotate to ASC as cases dictate; participate in on-call and weekend coverage per policy; maintain a 1:1 nurse-patient dynamic on assigned cases where applicable.
  • Adhere to unit protocols and specialty guidelines; support respiratory and anesthesia teams 24/7 as available; operate within unit-specific procedures and start IVs as directed.
