About The Position

We are seeking a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery for a Locum Tenens position in Springfield, OH. This inpatient role involves clinical duties and call coverage, focusing on cardiothoracic and vascular patients. The position requires providing post-operative care, performing emergency surgeries, managing consults, assisting in surgical procedures, coordinating care, rounding, interpreting tests, and prescribing medications. The average daily patient volume is 20-26, and the facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center utilizing the Epic EMR system.

Requirements

Board Certified in Vascular Surgery (required)
Active Ohio License (required)
Active DEA Certification (required)
ACLS certification (required)
Minimum 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery services (required)
Clean background, no malpractice or license issues

Responsibilities

Provide post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
Perform emergency surgery on cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
Take consults and referrals from ED, Cath Lab, and hospital providers.
Assist in surgery including vein harvesting and retrieval of vascular tissues.
Coordinate care, round, interpret tests, and order tests.
Write prescriptions.
Provide comprehensive post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients.
Perform emergency surgery interventions for cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
Manage consults and referrals from Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.
Assist in surgical procedures including vein harvesting and retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduits.
Coordinate patient care, conduct rounding, interpret diagnostic tests, and order necessary tests and medications.
