About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for two Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA positions. The role involves inpatient, OR, and call coverage with an average census of 2-10 patients and a 17-bed ICU. The facility utilizes Maquet Vasoview EVH. The coverage is needed for two weeks per month, Monday-Friday, with rotating night and weekend call. The patient population is adult. The EMR system used is EPIC. Expedited/Temporary privileges are available.

Requirements

  • Active Kansas licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Kansas OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Kansas
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
