About The Position
This is a locum tenens position for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery. The role involves both inpatient and outpatient services, including clinical duties and call coverage. The coverage period is ongoing starting August 22, 2026, with specific dates for vacation coverage. The position requires assisting with a variety of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, performing hospital rounding, providing clinic assistance, and taking night and weekend call. Specific procedures include removal of chest tubes, pulmonary artery catheter, epicardial wires, intra-aortic balloon pump, and vein/artery harvesting.
Requirements
- Board-certified NP or NCCPA-certified PA
- Active Ohio License
- Active DEA
- ACLS certification
- Minimum 1 year surgical experience
- RNFA certification and open heart surgical experience (for NP candidates)
Responsibilities
- Assist with cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries (elective and emergent)
- Perform hospital rounding on surgical patients
- Provide assistance in clinic
- Take night and weekend call
- Perform procedures such as removal of chest tubes, pulmonary artery catheter, epicardial wires, intra aortic balloon pump, and vein/artery harvesting
