Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Virginia
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by [name of approved boards]
  • Current DEA
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
  • Ability to document appropriately and communicate with appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Ability to complete charts in a timely manner.
  • Experienced in diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions
  • Basic working knowledge of managed care and Medicare population
  • Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional appearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in both adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery.
  • Experience with TAVR, mitral valve repair/replacement, endovascular and minimally invasive techniques including robotics and thoracic aortic disease is highly desirable.
  • A strong team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Pre- and post-operative care for adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery patients.
  • Performing cardiac surgery procedures including ascending aneurysm repair and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
  • Performing valve repair and replacement procedures.
  • Performing thoracic surgery procedures including chest tube insertion, lung masses and nodules, lung cancer, esophageal ruptures, tears, and cancer, and mediastinal masses.
  • Collaborating with the current team focusing on CABG, aortic valve procedures, and thoracic surgery.
