As the General Manager , you will lead and manage all aspects of an assigned retail car sales location to achieve operational excellence, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction goals. You will be responsible for overseeing sales performance, inventory management, team development, and day-to-day operations while ensuring a consistent, high-quality customer experience. This role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and the ability to motivate and develop teams to deliver results in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma ; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a retail car sales management role
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong general business knowledge to successfully operate and manage a retail sales location
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and coaching skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to forecast and manage performance
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead teams in a sales-driven environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience executing marketing programs, promotions, and local events
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including inventory systems, social media, and mobile tools
  • This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the location team to consistently and profitably achieve vehicle sales targets .
  • Forecast sales performance and manage inventory levels to ensure the right mix and availability of vehicles.
  • Hire, train, coach, and evaluate team members to build a high-performing sales organization.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback, set individual sales goals, and manage to overall location objectives .
  • Resolve customer concerns and assist with deal closings when needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure sales team members are knowledgeable on all vehicles, features, and specifications in inventory.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on sales and operational metrics, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Promote the dealership, its values, and its products and services within the local market.
  • Oversee execution of advertising, promotional, and marketing initiatives.
  • Finalize purchase, trade-in, and sales agreements in compliance with company policies.
  • Utilize digital tools and platforms, including inventory systems and online listing services, to support sales efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with Avis Budget Group Car Rental operations and support remarketing initiatives.
