About The Position

This position is open until filled; however, to ensure consideration applications should be submitted by June 1, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. King County Housing Authority is currently seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Capital Construction Coordinator. In this position, you will serve as the liaison between the Capital Construction and Property Management teams, overseeing all aspects of a portfolio of construction projects from inception to completion. Two positions may be filled through this recruitment process. As a key member of the Project Team, you will be involved from project initiation through development and completion. Your responsibilities include monitoring construction sites and contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, budgets, and safety regulations, and maintaining the standards set forth in the project contract. A critical component of this role is enforcing compliance with the contractor’s onsite Safety Plan and safeguarding residents during projects that require occupied sites. You may also be called upon to perform constructability reviews both within and outside the Project Team. The ideal candidate will possess practical, hands-on experience in the construction field/trades, the ability to analyze, review, and interpret building construction plans and specifications, and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED AND extensive (5+ years) experience in residential/commercial/civil construction, construction trades, construction management, contracting, and/or remodeling OR Associate degree AND considerable (3+ to 5 years) experience in residential/commercial/civil construction, construction trades, construction management, contracting, and/or remodeling OR An equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting building construction plans, details, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices used in various building construction trades areas including, but not limited to: Proper construction techniques and contract compliance.
  • Standard building materials.
  • State building codes and county and state ordinances.
  • Coordination with local jurisdictions.
  • Permitting processes, local and state inspection requirements.
  • Documentation preparation and scheduling.
  • Applies effective written and verbal communication techniques to convey clear and timely messages to internal and external partners, exercises tact and diplomacy.
  • Analyzes problems, identifies alternative solutions, and implements recommendations; demonstrates critical, creative, and reflective thinking; ability to exercise independent decision making.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in construction related areas such as building code enforcement, hazardous material assessments such as lead risk and asbestos, and combustion safety is desirable for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a detailed Daily Site Report documenting all activity, safety compliance, weather conditions, concerns/issues, and tracking subcontractors/vendors on site.
  • Oversee the activity on site, contractors, and construction projects ensuring work performed is in compliance with the construction documentation; work with contractors to take corrective action when needed; prepare and submit Construction Daily Reports to management on project progress and issues if necessary.
  • Help the Project Team and Development develop contract documents; facilitates approvals and procures services as required.
  • Inspect construction codes, contracts, and specifications to verify procedural compliance; conduct frequent inspections on contractor work to verify accuracy and compliance for building code approvals.
  • Help prepare a variety of bid documentation for proposals; monitor and enforce project schedules as submitted by the Contractor in the Contract Documents.
  • Monitor work performed ensuring compliance with documented and verbal expectations; review proposed or active project schedules and critical paths; ensure contractor schedule compliance and elevate corrective action to the Project Team if required; prepares project progress reports for submission to appropriate agency as requested by management.
  • Review and prepare construction plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with building and construction specifications.
  • Prepare construction inspection reports based on project field notes and digital imaging construction data; coordinate details with project managers and building design consultants; ensure compliance of construction documents, codes, and proper construction procedures.
  • Act as liaison between KCHA Property Management, KCHA Residents, other KCHA agencies, and contractors; assist in mediating disputes and resolving concerns and issues as required.
  • Maintain property information libraries; collect and archives various data, construction drawings, and hazardous material information.
  • Plan and arrange meetings with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
