About The Position

The Capacity Planning Manager analyzes Driver Optimization solutions and oversees the Capacity Planning team’s assignment of shipments to Hub Group Trucking (HGT) drivers within an assigned geographic territory. The role is responsible for daily market planning and effective capacity use to meet customer service requirements, minimize costs through loaded miles, and maximize available driver hours. The position reports to the Director of Intermodal Operations.

Ability to work as a self-starter and highly motivated individual in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
2–3 years of experience in transportation operations, such as truckload or intermodal.
Proficiency with transportation management systems in a large corporate environment.

Responsibilities

Analyze Driver Optimization solutions and assign loads to HGT capacity in compliance with federal safety regulations, geographic considerations, and equipment constraints to maximize driver utilization.
Support development of the market plan and oversee the capacity planning function that executes daily load plans for HGT drivers’ inbound and outbound loads within an assigned geographic territory.
Work with Intermodal Operations and Network Optimization to maximize equipment utilization and driver productivity.
Work proactively with Terminal Operations, Intermodal Operations, and Account Management to confirm capacity coverage in advance of anticipated customer requirements.
Plan and implement initiatives to improve routing and equipment utilization in line with customer expectations and network needs.
Meet established metrics, including loaded miles, driver utilization, service, safety, and cost per load.
Undertake other duties, responsibilities, or activities as assigned or changed in response to business needs.
