Manager, Dasher & Logistics - Capacity Planning

DoorDash USA•Atlanta, GA
•$136,000 - $200,000

About The Position

The Sort Capacity Manager owns network-wide capacity de-risking for the Sort organization. The role builds and maintains a constraint model that defines de-risked capacity across first-party and third-party facilities, including dock door availability, floor and pallet-position space, maximum throughput, and optimal labor and automation. The position owns the network constraint model; governs spoke capacity data in the sort app; manages zip-code-to-facility mapping and re-optimization; forecasts device and consumable needs; evaluates hub-to-spoke direct-routing opportunities; identifies and closes forecasting product gaps with Data and Product partners; and owns merchant launch end to end, including CET allocation and trade-offs across merchant priorities. Success includes providing 3-, 6-, and 12-month visibility ahead of projected capacity constraints, delivering site launch recommendations proactively, and assigning optimal CET to a high percentage of high-priority Mx launches. DoorDash describes its mission as empowering local economies and its business as a technology and logistics company. The company is committed to diversity and inclusion and provides accommodations to applicants who need them.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain, network strategy, or operations, with direct experience owning capacity planning or site launch strategy at scale.
  • Experience building and owning a capacity, forecasting, or network constraint model that became a standing input to planning.
  • Ability to independently identify bottlenecks across a large, multi-site network without a pre-scoped problem statement.
  • Experience negotiating trade-off recommendations with senior cross-functional stakeholders, such as Network Design, Real Estate, and Finance, and influencing capital-adjacent decisions.
  • Deep understanding of physical warehouse operations and the ability to translate dock, floor, throughput, and labor constraints into a single model.
  • Ability to communicate trade-offs and risks clearly and concisely to senior leadership, and to determine what to escalate versus resolve independently.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a network constraint model of facility capacity, covering dock door availability, floor and pallet-position space, maximum throughput, and labor hours needed to reach maximum output.
  • Model inbound and outbound truck cadence by hour using Mx forecasts, staging capacity, automation and manual sortation rates, package profile mix, and cross-dock versus sort operations.
  • Maintain spoke capacity data in the sort app and hold cross-functional partners accountable for keeping product information aligned with facility configurations.
  • Own zip-code-to-facility mapping and re-optimize it as volume and rates change, balancing service-level and cost trade-offs.
  • Forecast scanners, bins, and gaylords against site growth and manage readiness cadence to avoid reactive procurement.
  • Develop business cases for hub-sort-to-spoke direct routing and bring recommendations to Network Design and Real Estate.
  • Identify forecasting-tool gaps that fail to capture capacity realities and drive fixes with Data and Product partners.
  • Own Mx launch end to end, including CET allocation by merchant priority and negotiation of trade-offs among competing merchant demands.
  • Provide 3-, 6-, and 12-month visibility ahead of projected capacity constraints.
  • Deliver site launch recommendations proactively and optimize CET assignment for high-priority Mx launches.
