About The Position

The Capacity Optimization Project Manager is an operations-focused, travel-heavy role supporting global deployment volumes across warehouse operations, with a regional focus on the East or West. The role travels up to 50% across its assigned territory to address changing site capacity needs and support on-site facility launches, warehouse turn-ups, facility turndowns, 3PL swaps, and building transfers. It serves as a central point of contact for day-to-day operations, guiding 3PL partners through standardized execution and maintaining a centralized project tracking repository and site audit support. The position administers and refines a project management platform and turn-up playbook, tracks milestones and tasks, resolves workflow and system issues, and delivers automated status updates and regional risk reports to stakeholders and leadership. It works with internal operations teams, Logistics Operations Managers, 3PL partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to surface risks, keep communications flowing, standardize processes, and support facility implementation timelines.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in logistics, large-scale warehouse operations, distribution center turn-ups, or 3PL management.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management platforms, specifically Google Sheets.
  • Experience with automated reporting engines, API integrations, and workflow ticketing systems such as Fluxx.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly fluid and ambiguous environment and rapidly shift priorities to support organizational expansion.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to influence internal and external partners and escalate issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day business operations during site turn-ups, resolving roadblocks and guiding 3PL execution without directing labor planning or finance.
  • Facilitate complex turn-up projects using a centralized project management platform and playbook, track L1/L2 milestones, and ensure task completion across more than 650 steps.
  • Investigate, route, and resolve administrative tasks and system bugs, including Fluxx workflow issues.
  • Generate automated status updates, executive summaries, and regional risk roll-ups using API-connected reporting tools.
  • Identify trends across start-ups and proactively escalate execution and project risks.
  • Travel up to 50% within the assigned region to oversee warehouse turn-ups, building transfers, and facility turndowns.
  • Shift focus dynamically among hubs and spokes according to weekly volume and capacity needs.
  • Provide on-the-ground launch support to teams and 3PL partners, communicate operational requirements, and keep the Logistics Operations Manager informed of risks.
  • Surface operational risks and upstream blockers during facility implementations.
  • Maintain project trackers, repair broken work-instruction links, clear legacy workflow items, and correct misrouted bug queues.
  • Manage location code setups, including sourcing and facility locations, and resolve related logistics and workflow requirements.
  • Use capacity management dashboards to deliver actionable regional roll-ups and snapshot reports to leadership.
  • Escalate potential and active problems clearly and promptly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Partner with the East and West teams and cross-functional stakeholders to standardize processes and administer and refine the project management platform and turn-up playbook.
  • Use change-management features to implement universal task updates and consolidate scattered processes into a single source of truth.
  • Ensure new technology and logistics functions are correctly mapped as workflow predecessors.
  • Assess timeline feasibility by calculating backward and forward from estimated site availability dates.
  • Represent internal operations teams in 3PL engagements and define roles, ownership, and LDAP assignments during project initiation.
  • Manage day-to-day 3PL communications, build trust with Logistics Operations Managers, and ensure critical issues are not siloed or missed.
  • Provide clear, data-driven updates to Google contacts and bridge communication between turn-up teams and stakeholders.
