About The Position
The Outreach Team is seeking a Canvass Field Director in Grand Island, NE, to lead a team in engaging voters about Dan Osborn's run for Senate. This role involves training and managing canvassers, leading by example through personal canvassing, communicating goals, and managing campaign reporting. The Field Director will build and manage a team of hourly staff, focusing on community organizing, civic engagement, equity, and justice. The position requires a strong leader who can motivate, train, and hold staff accountable, while also developing strategic plans and managing administrative duties. Preference is given to local candidates.
Requirements
- Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
- Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week
- Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement
- Track record of equity and inclusion
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
Nice To Haves
- Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
- Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
- Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
- Facilitation experience
- Local knowledge/experience
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 40–60 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to community members about local clean energy storage projects and build community support for a reliable, affordable energy future
- Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
- Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
- Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
- Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
- Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
- Develop strategic plans to reach targeted constituents in assigned locations
- Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
