About The Position

The Outreach Team is seeking a Canvass Field Director in Kearney, NE, to lead a team in engaging voters about Dan Osborn's run for Senate. This role involves training and managing canvassers, leading by example through personal canvassing, communicating goals, and managing campaign reporting. The Field Director will report to the Lead Director and is responsible for building and scaling an office from the ground up. The position emphasizes grassroots organizing and face-to-face conversations to build political power. This role is crucial for engaging Nebraskans in the political process, focusing on issues like clean energy storage projects and building community support for a reliable energy future. The Field Director will manage a team of hourly staff, set and track goals, provide training and motivation, identify and develop leadership within the team, and foster a culture of equity and justice. Administrative duties include reporting, record keeping, payroll processing, and material distribution.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
  • Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
  • Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
  • Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
  • Facilitation experience
  • Local knowledge/experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 40–60 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to community members about local clean energy storage projects and build community support for a reliable, affordable energy future
  • Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
  • Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Develop strategic plans to reach targeted constituents in assigned locations
  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
