About The Position
The Outreach Team is seeking a Canvass Field Director in Beatrice, NE, to lead a team of canvassers for the Working Class Majority Pac. This role involves talking to voters about Dan Osborn's run for Senate and advocating for local clean energy storage projects. The ideal candidate has leadership experience, a passion for community organizing, and the ability to lead from the front. Responsibilities include training and managing staff, setting goals, reporting, and fostering a culture of equity and inclusion. This is a people-powered initiative focused on building political power from the ground up through face-to-face conversations.
Requirements
- Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
- Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week
- Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement
- Track record of equity and inclusion
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
Nice To Haves
- Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
- Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
- Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
- Facilitation experience
- Local knowledge/experience
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 40–60 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to community members about local clean energy storage projects and build community support for a reliable, affordable energy future
- Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
- Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
- Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
- Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
- Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
- Develop strategic plans to reach targeted constituents in assigned locations
- Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
