About The Position

Second Nature Brands is hiring a Candy Maker to support its supply chain team by helping produce confections at Sanders Chocolate Factory in Clinton Township, Michigan. The role involves transferring caramel tubs to the production line, operating and monitoring production equipment, checking product quality, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment. The position is based in an indoor food manufacturing setting and regularly involves working near moving mechanical parts and in a high-noise environment. The regular schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate is $18.00 per hour plus a $1.00 shift premium.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Previous manufacturing experience is required.
Able to read and write English proficiently.
Self-directed.
Ability to work well with peers and supervisors.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to keep production lines running efficiently.
Able to stand for 8–10 hours, walk up and down stairs, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

Repeatedly transfer cooled caramel tubs weighing approximately 50 pounds to the production line.
Clean and sanitize candy-making equipment.
Start and continue the production line according to established guidelines.
Check caramel squares on the production line for weight and uniformity.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS), and OSHA safety policies.
Track inventory using the ERP system.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
