About The Position

This position is for a student hourly role at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS). The Jazz Librarian will be responsible for maintaining the Jazz Library, including sorting and re-shelving music, cleaning the facility, and cataloging new music. The role also involves assisting the jazz director with preparing music for the UWS Jazz Band/Jazz Combo, managing records of distributed parts, and aiding with setup and teardown for rehearsals and concerts. Additionally, the position will support the Honor Jazz Band Festival with music preparation and other assigned tasks by the supervisor.

• Participation in the UWS Jazz Band is recommended.

Responsibilities

• Sort and re-shelve music used by the UWS Jazz Band.
• Clean and maintain the jazz library facility.
• Stamp and catalog new music before filing.
• Assist the jazz director with preparing parts/scores for the UWS Jazz Band/Jazz Combo.
• Maintain records of parts/folders distributed.
• Assist in set-up and tear down for weekly rehearsals and concerts.
• Assist with Honor Jazz Band Festival: music preparation.
• Assist supervisor with other assigned tasks.
