Campus Store Associate
About The Position
The Campus Store Associate serves customers in all aspects of campus store operations, maintains store stock and appearance, and completes sales using a point-of-sale system to sustain cash and inventory levels. The associate is expected to support the overall university and Slingshot mission and demonstrate the university’s and Slingshot’s values. Responsibilities include customer service and point-of-sale operations, receiving and locating merchandise, shipping and fulfilling orders, and general clerical work. The role requires physical activity, including lifting, carrying, bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods. Schedule flexibility is needed during peak seasons.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to carry, bend, and stretch during campus store operations and stand for long periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and general customers.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Google Suite.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to self-start and work independently.
- Schedule flexibility during peak seasons.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve store customers, including handling point-of-sale transactions and cash and credit card payments.
- Answer telephone calls, manage voicemails, and return calls.
- Fulfill and ship online sales and textbook orders.
- Assist with in-store receiving and locating textbooks and general merchandise.
- Ship textbooks and general merchandise.
- Perform general clerical duties, including filing, typing simple documents and Excel spreadsheets, and emailing students when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain store stock and appearance and help sustain cash and inventory levels.
