About The Position

The Dining Room Manager actively manages dining room operations, including staffing, accountability, and sanitation, in accordance with applicable health department regulations. The role also assists in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for residents. Duties include supervising dining services employees, managing staff schedules and attendance, maintaining safe and orderly work areas, following infection-control and food-safety procedures, and performing hosting and serving duties as needed.

Requirements

• Relevant work experience; two or more years is preferred.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with elderly people.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and the general public.
• Formal training in food service management or culinary arts, or equivalent experience in either field.
• Ability to supervise dining services employees using independent judgment and discretion.
• Must meet all health requirements and pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Manage dining room operations, including staffing, accountability, and sanitation, in accordance with health department regulations.
• Assist in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for residents.
• Supervise dining services department employees using independent judgment and discretion.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
• Follow procedures for infection control, food-borne illness prevention, handling harmful chemicals, fire safety, and sanitation, and promptly address violations.
• Schedule and reschedule staff, including exercising discretion when considering time-off requests and other work-schedule modifications.
• Track attendance and inform the Director of Dining Services when disciplinary action may be necessary.
• Perform hosting and serving duties as needed.
