About The Position

Responsible for scheduling patient appointments for all clinics of the facility. Responsible for handling outbound and inbound calls from external and internal customers. Professionally greets customers; responds to inquiries of a specific or general nature; determines appropriate response or direction for the caller. Performs other clerical duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Handles outbound and inbound calls from external and internal customers.
  • Transfers customer calls to appropriate staff.
  • Obtains physicians' schedules on an established schedule.
  • Schedules patient appointments called in by patients, physicians, and physicians' offices.
  • Obtains patient demographic and insurance information and enters it into the computer system.
  • Updates information in the computer system for returning patients.
  • Answers calls in a professional and polite manner, communicates information to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Provides patients with general information about the clinic, hospital, etc. provides directions.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function well in stressful situations.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Accepts other responsibilities as directed.
  • Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Wears appropriate clothing for job functions.
  • Wears ID badge.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Attends at least 8 staff meetings annually, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
