About The Position

The Cafe & Kitchen Manager leads café and kitchen operations for Sunday services and supports special events as needed. The role develops leaders, systems, and volunteer teams to create welcoming, caring, and connected café and kitchen environments. The manager recruits, trains, schedules, develops, and cares for volunteers and volunteer leaders; maintains hospitality, product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and guest experience; and oversees operational systems such as procedures, recipes, cash handling, inventory, equipment, and facility upkeep. The role monitors financial performance, keeps the café and kitchen stocked and organized, establishes expectations for kitchen use, supports event food and beverage needs, and continually improves the café experience while prioritizing hospitality, connection, and ministry. The position is part of Valley Real Life (VRL) staff and is expected to support the church’s mission, vision, beliefs, and culture. The employee is expected to attend church services, The Journey, Life Group, monthly all-staff meetings, and other requested meetings, and to work collaboratively with staff in support of the church’s ministries and events.

Requirements

Knowledge of café operations, inventory management, food safety, and sanitation.
Strong leadership, hospitality, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to develop and maintain effective systems and processes.
Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Lead café and kitchen operations for Sunday services and support special events as needed.
Recruit, train, schedule, develop, and care for volunteer teams and volunteer leaders.
Maintain excellence in hospitality, product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and overall guest experience.
Oversee operational systems, including procedures, recipes, cash handling, inventory, equipment, and facility upkeep.
Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, pricing, and operational improvements.
Ensure the café and kitchen remain well-stocked, organized, and ministry-ready.
Establish and maintain systems and expectations for kitchen use across staff, ministries, and volunteers.
Support food and beverage needs for church events while equipping ministry teams and volunteers to lead execution.
Continually improve the café experience while prioritizing hospitality, connection, and ministry.
Attend VRL church services regularly, monthly all-staff meetings, and department or other meetings when requested.
Work closely with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment and support Valley Real Life ministries and events.
Other duties as assigned.
