Cafe FOH/BOH Team Member
About The Position
Café Team Members serve food and drinks efficiently to guests at the Urban Air Café. They work in the kitchen and/or service area, cashier, interact with guests, cook, prepare food, and serve it. The role requires working quickly with a sense of urgency while maintaining high standards of guest service and care. The position involves guest service and menu guidance, maintaining Café supplies and cleanliness, handling initial guest complaints, and preparing, cooking, storing, and rotating food in accordance with established procedures and health code regulations. Team Members also participate in staff meetings and training and perform other duties assigned by Leadership.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction, required.
- Friendly and engaging personality; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work under pressure.
- Comfort working with the public, initiating conversations, welcoming guests sincerely, and providing good service.
- Willingness to learn, take instruction, work independently, support other team members, and multitask.
- Effective, organized, efficient team player with a strong sense of discipline and urgency.
- Accountability for high personal standards of conduct and professionalism.
- Ability to work days, nights, and/or weekends as required.
- Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment with distracting conditions.
- Ability to move around the facility and stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Some college education preferred.
- Previous restaurant or quick-service experience preferred.
- ServSafe or similar food-handling certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate high standards of guest relations and care when assisting guests at the counter.
- Advise and recommend products and menu selections to guests to support a positive experience and repeat business.
- Maintain adequate stock of Café supplies and consumables.
- Manage queues, exceed guest expectations, and upsell to maximize profit.
- Keep the Café and surrounding areas tidy and clean, including clearing tables, washing dishes, and taking out trash.
- Handle guest complaints initially and report feedback to the Leadership Team.
- Follow established guidelines and operating procedures.
- Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items.
- Cook and store food items at appropriate temperatures.
- Rotate stock according to established procedures.
- Comply with health code regulations.
- Maintain clear, well-organized kitchen and storage areas.
- Participate in staff meetings and training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership.
