Cafe Cashier/Attend Per Diem
About The Position
Under the general direction of the Cafeteria Supervisor, the Cafe Cashier/Attend is responsible for duties related to preparing, serving, and cleaning up cafeteria meals. The position maintains departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. It prepares and sets up food and beverages at cafeteria stations, serves food, maintains food and refrigerator temperature records, keeps work areas clean and stocked, assists with equipment care, and serves as a cashier when needed for breaks. The role also includes customer service, attendance at in-service meetings, and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic English communication skills to understand and speak for safe, efficient performance of job responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills, which may be obtained through on-the-job training.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate routine information.
- Ability to work from oral and written instructions.
- Basic math skills, including counting and computing.
- One to three months of related food service experience.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
- Prepare and set up food at the steam table, grill, salad bar, deli bar, and dessert bar; prepare beverages and condiments.
- Obtain and place dishes and serving utensils at all stations.
- Serve food at hot stations; cook and serve grill items; prepare and serve deli sandwiches.
- Assist with miscellaneous food preparation.
- Maintain and record food and refrigerator temperatures.
- Wipe counters and tables, arrange and replenish items as needed, and maintain a clean work area.
- Inform cooks of items needed.
- Restock condiments, salad dressings, beverages, food items, paper goods, and other supplies.
- Clean general work areas, including delis, refrigerators, steam tables, grills, sinks, and tables.
- Participate in post-meal cleanup tasks.
- Serve as cashier when needed for breaks.
- Assist with care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Greet customers promptly and courteously.
- Attend in-service meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
