Business Systems Analyst
About The Position
The Business Systems Analyst improves organizational performance by optimizing workflows, business processes, system configurations, reporting, and technology solutions. During the first year, the primary focus is optimizing the revenue cycle management (RCM) side of Josselyn's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. The role supports RCM initiatives, improves organizational workflows, and advances technology-enabled process improvements. The analyst works with stakeholders to evaluate current processes, identify improvement opportunities, optimize the EMR, and implement solutions that improve revenue capture and operational effectiveness. The role supports revenue cycle workflow analysis, EMR and related systems optimization, reporting and dashboard development, and project planning and implementation. It also includes configuration adjustments to the RCM side of the EMR, documentation, testing, stakeholder communication, change management support, and measurement of project outcomes and return on investment. The position is based at the Northbrook office and requires in-person work in Northfield, Illinois. Applicants must currently be located in Illinois. No travel is required.
Requirements
- Currently located in the state of Illinois.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- At least 3 years of experience in healthcare operations, healthcare technology, business analysis, EMR administration, revenue cycle, or a related area.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems, particularly RCM system configurations.
- SQL reporting and database experience.
- Experience with workflow analysis and process improvement.
- Experience with revenue cycle workflows.
- Experience with Microsoft 365.

- Experience with healthcare reporting and analytics.
- Lean, Six Sigma, CBAP, RHIA, RHIT, PMP, or related certifications.
Responsibilities
- Analyze revenue cycle workflows, including eligibility verification, authorizations, claim creation and submission, denials, payment posting, and collections, to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial performance.
- Evaluate operational challenges and identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvement.
- Support projects intended to improve reimbursement outcomes and reduce denials.
- Support optimization of SmartCare and related systems that affect workflows.
- Analyze system functionality and recommend enhancements to improve operational effectiveness.
- Participate in configuration reviews, system testing, workflow validation, and implementation activities.
- Make necessary configuration adjustments to the RCM side of the EMR.
- Assist with developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and system tools supporting revenue cycle operations.
- Maintain documentation related to workflows, system configurations, and business requirements.
- Assist with project planning, issue identification, testing, implementation, and stakeholder communication.
- Monitor project risks, dependencies, and implementation readiness.
- Support organizational change management efforts.
- Assist in measuring project outcomes and return on investment (ROI).
