Business Strategy and Planning, Vice President

State Street•Quincy, MA
•$110,000 - $188,750

About The Position

State Street is seeking a highly experienced transformation leader to serve as Vice President, Project Manager for its Onboarding Transformation initiative. The role provides execution leadership to translate an enterprise vision into an integrated roadmap and deliver coordinated change across business operations, technology, data, risk and controls. This is not a traditional reporting-focused PMO position: it connects strategy, operating-model design and implementation across organizational boundaries, balancing executive-level perspective with hands-on delivery leadership. The transformation will connect client and account onboarding with ongoing lifecycle changes and offboarding, and establish how this capability is organized, governed, funded and delivered across the enterprise. Working closely with the accountable executive sponsor and senior workstream leaders, the VP will provide day-to-day leadership, direction and accountability as the program moves from target-state design into implementation. The role is intended to improve client experience, reduce handoffs and operational risk, increase efficiency, and build an enduring enterprise capability. The position leads mobilization and execution, translates the strategic vision and target operating model into a sequenced implementation roadmap, and manages milestones, dependencies, deliverables, risks, decisions and the critical path. It establishes transparent ownership, funding, resource and delivery commitments; coordinates operating-model design and cross-functional workstreams; and sets practical governance and executive reporting. The role also coordinates process redesign, workflow, data, automation and AI-enabled opportunities, control design, readiness, migration and adoption. It defines baselines, success measures and OKRs, tracks benefits and investment, and keeps delivery focused on sustained business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading large, complex transformation programs in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Proven ability to manage initiatives spanning business operations, technology, data, risk and controls.
  • Demonstrated experience developing integrated roadmaps and driving delivery across multiple interdependent workstreams.
  • Strong experience with operating-model transformation, process reengineering or platform-based change.
  • Credibility and confidence engaging executive stakeholders and influencing decisions across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent executive communication, problem-solving, facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in asset servicing, custody, banking, client onboarding, account opening, KYC/AML or lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with Agile, product/platform operating models, workflow, automation, data platforms and AI-enabled transformation.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Relevant transformation or project-management certification.

  • Identify overlaps, gaps and competing priorities across existing initiatives and drive their resolution.
  • Facilitate definition of the initiative North Star, platform boundaries, blueprint, MVP and measurable OKRs.
  • Establish practical governance and operating rhythms across workstreams.
  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented executive reporting on progress, outcomes, risks, dependencies, investment and resource requirements.
  • Lead working sessions and governance forums that produce clear decisions, owners and deadlines.

  • Escalate material risks and dependencies with clear options and recommended actions.
  • Coordinate end-to-end process redesign spanning client requests, onboarding, account changes and offboarding.
  • Partner with business and technology teams on integrated workflow, authoritative client and account data, automation and AI-enabled opportunities.
  • Ensure preventative and detective controls are embedded in target processes and supporting technology.
  • Coordinate business readiness, migration, adoption and transition into the future-state operating model.
  • Ensure transformation delivery strengthens control effectiveness while simplifying the client and employee experience.
  • Define transformation baselines, success measures and OKRs.
  • Track outcomes such as onboarding cycle time, handoffs, manual activity, data quality, control effectiveness, client experience and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Finance and workstream leaders to maintain a clear view of investment, capacity and realized benefits.
  • Focus the program on adoption and sustained business outcomes, not only completion of project milestones.
