About The Position

Guernsey is an employee-owned engineering, architecture, and consulting firm. Its Analytical Services Group (ASG) provides clients with services including cybersecurity consulting, power engineering, and utility financial consulting. The Business Operations Manager helps ASG’s consulting teams improve their operations and client service by developing processes, maintaining business reporting, supporting staff and technology adoption, and translating priorities into actionable initiatives. The role works closely with the Group Leader, Team Leaders, staff, and company functions, and helps teams adopt shared standards while retaining ownership of day-to-day execution. The position also supports staff development, engagement, onboarding, training, and retention. It coordinates cross-team efforts, tracks progress and accountability, and drives initiatives through implementation and measurable results. The role may involve occasional business travel as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, finance, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Five or more years of relevant experience in business operations, project management, or process improvement.
Highly self-directed and proactive, able to work independently, identify priorities, take ownership, and move forward with minimal direction.
Demonstrated ability to develop practical processes, implement improvements, and help teams adopt new ways of working.
Strong analytical and business skills, with an understanding of project performance, resource planning, and profitability.
Comfort working with business technology, reporting tools, and shared information systems.
Clear communication, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills; ability to collaborate across teams, influence without direct supervisory authority, and follow through.
Ability to work at a desk or computer and review digital and paper-based information for extended periods.
Ability to communicate regularly through phone, video, and in-person meetings and participate in office meetings.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement operating processes with input from Team Leaders and staff; clarify responsibilities, support adoption, and maintain shared standards.
Develop, prepare, and maintain recurring financial and operating reports and monthly dashboards covering revenue, backlog, utilization, project profitability, staffing, workload, and performance.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs), facilitate performance reviews, and identify trends to help Team Leaders improve project delivery, resource planning, and client satisfaction.
Strengthen processes throughout the client relationship, including CRM, proposals, project delivery, billing, and client feedback.
Partner with the Guernsey Culture and Community group, Group Leader, and Team Leaders to improve staff onboarding and training.
Support company, group, and team-specific goals and activities, as well as staff development, engagement, and retention.
Coordinate the selection and adoption of technology, tools, and AI solutions; implement and administer approved solutions, coordinate staff training, and work with corporate functions to support adoption.
Build and maintain shared knowledge resources that make client information, project experience, and proven internal methods easier to find and reuse.
Translate ASG and company priorities into actionable plans, coordinate cross-team efforts, monitor progress and accountability, and drive initiatives through implementation and measurable results.
Partner with the Group Leader on special projects and company initiatives by helping define priorities, coordinate activities, analyze information, track progress, and drive implementation through completion.
