About The Position

Specter is seeking a Business Operations Generalist to join its lean BizOps team. The role spans deal support, pricing, market strategy, planning, finance, and company systems. Work currently leans toward commercial support, including partnering with go-to-market teams on sales materials, customer value cases, and proposals, but the focus may shift as the company grows. The position involves both strategic and detailed operational work. The successful candidate will take ownership of emerging problems, build repeatable templates and systems, and improve processes over time. They will work with leadership and teams across sales, finance, product, and engineering, and should be comfortable operating with variety and limited direction. Specter builds video sensors with AI agents that detect and reason about physical activity, supporting use cases including security, safety monitoring, and operational efficiency. The company offers long-range wireless and wired sensor variants.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, investing, business operations, revenue operations, or a similarly analytical role at an early-stage, high-growth startup.
  • Strong spreadsheet and financial modeling skills, and comfort using a CRM.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good judgment and ability to prioritize when multiple matters feel urgent.
  • Low-ego, team-oriented approach and willingness to take on detailed behind-the-scenes work and improve it.
  • Builder mentality, including enthusiasm for creating initial systems and making one-off work reusable.
  • Enjoyment of varied generalist work and willingness to take on the most important problems as the company grows.
  • Comfort working with limited direction or context, finding needed information, making reasonable calls, and flagging assumptions.
  • Ability to use AI tools to improve systems and productivity while retaining independent judgment.
  • Interest in physical AI, hard industries, critical infrastructure, defense, energy, or industrial technology, and ability and desire to learn technical products.
  • Based in San Francisco and excited to work in person.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare pricing, proposals, customer business cases, and value models for complex deals, and support contract review.
  • Develop templates and systems that enable the sales team to handle repeatable deal work independently.
  • Build business cases for new markets and products and monitor competitor activity.
  • Support pipeline visibility for leadership and sales through forecasting, CRM hygiene, and dashboards.
  • Support planning, budgeting, and board and investor reporting.
  • Track business spending, including production, R&D, SaaS, and vendors.
  • Create processes, documentation, and decision frameworks to replace ad hoc practices.
  • Handle operational tasks such as cleaning data, coordinating vendors, and gathering numbers.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous business problems and drive them to a clear owner and outcome.
