About The Position

The Business Manager at MIT Press is responsible for ensuring the financial health and operational excellence of the organization. This role involves overseeing critical accounting and financial operations, maintaining rigorous compliance standards, and providing strategic financial analysis to support organizational decision-making. The Business Manager will also lead accounting functions, mentor team members, drive process improvements, and ensure accuracy across all financial activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of four years of experience in financial operations, accounting, and account reconciliation
• Strong written and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential information
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
• Collaborative approach with eagerness to learn organizational systems and operations

Nice To Haves

• Experience in finance, accounting, publishing, and/or higher education
• Proficiency with financial and/or publishing systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle, Biblio, Office)
• Experience managing or leading others
