About The Position

The Senior PowerBI Developer is a technical expert within InfoLink, Crown’s global fleet management software solution. The role transforms company data into useful information for business operations or customers, creating and modifying reports and dashboards that support planning and decision-making. The developer may mentor other Business Intelligence Developers and Report Developers, and uses tools and processes to consolidate large amounts of unformatted data into visual reporting formats. The position builds and supports data models and Python-based data extraction from internal and external databases, designs data-load processes, supports performance of data loading and extraction, and recommends useful metrics. It creates, tests, implements, and maintains complex reports and ad-hoc queries; develops and optimizes analytics and reporting solutions; and assists with issue resolution and end-user support. The developer works with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translate requirements into technical specifications, analyze data and recommend solutions, communicate findings to management and decision-makers, and promote standardized reporting and data. Crown offers hybrid remote work, with some onsite work at the New Bremen, Ohio office and a reasonable commute required. Occasional travel with overnight stays may be required (0–5%).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
At least 5 years of related work experience.
Expert-level Power BI experience.
Experience with Python and/or PowerShell scripting.
Good written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0–5%).

Nice To Haves

Power BI administration experience and understanding of embedding reports within other applications.
Experience developing custom and complex SQL queries for reporting needs and familiarity with creating custom DAX expressions/functions.
Understanding of ETL development with Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS.
Knowledge of REST APIs and API-based integrations.
Ability to implement row-level security on data and understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.

Responsibilities

Transform company data into meaningful information for business operations or customers.
Modify existing and create new reports and dashboards to support planning and decision-making.
Build, enhance, and support data models and extraction of data elements using Python from internal and external databases.
Design data-load processes that account for dependencies and support loading and extraction processes, including performance optimization.
Recommend new metrics and, where relevant, provide context analysis and suggestions based on data review.
Create, test, implement, and maintain complex reports and ad-hoc queries that provide actionable information.
Identify data needed for desired outputs and develop analytics and reporting solutions for the Business Intelligence platform.
Fine-tune reports and dashboards for performance and assist with issue resolution and end-user support.
Use current industry techniques to improve reporting efficiency, including automation, speed, visual design, and reduced complexity.
Work with business stakeholders to analyze data and reporting needs and translate requirements into technical specifications.
Communicate status reports and important findings to management and decision-makers.
Work toward standardized business reports and data across the organization or for customers.
Analyze reporting requirements and recommend development solutions.
May mentor other Business Intelligence Developers and/or Report Developers.
