About The Position

The Business Intelligence Developer joins the solutions delivery team to advance the digital transformation of critical government systems through mission-focused analytics work. The role designs, builds, and maintains reports and dashboards that turn complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders and decision-makers. It combines business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Grafana with data manipulation, database connectivity, and AWS cloud infrastructure knowledge. The developer works with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate analytics objectives and business requirements into clear, user-friendly reporting that supports informed decisions and mission-critical operations. Teams use lean agile practices, emphasize collaboration and iteration, and apply an automate-first approach across DataOps, DevSecOps, and MLOps. The position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. It is hybrid, based onsite in Vienna, Virginia and Chantilly, Virginia, with up to three days remote; remote flexibility may change based on program needs.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining business intelligence data analytics reports and real-time system infrastructure monitoring, using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or Splunk.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; additional experience may be substituted for education.
Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or DynamoDB.
Basic understanding of relational database design principles, including normalization and denormalization.
General knowledge of database administration concepts such as users, schemas, and constraints.
Basic query development experience.
Experience working with data from Excel, Jira, ServiceNow, or similar sources.
Experience using programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
Experience leveraging generative AI tools.
Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment.
TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
Able to sit for prolonged periods and work at a computer; able to lift up to 10–15 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports.
At least 1 year of experience writing code in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and SQL.
Strong knowledge of data modeling principles and dashboard design.
Experience working with large datasets and multiple source systems.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with cloud providers, preferably AWS.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, and other visualization tools.
Connect to and extract data from databases in AWS cloud infrastructure, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, and RDS.
Manipulate, transform, and prepare data to ensure reporting quality and accuracy.
Translate business requests and analytics objectives into demonstrable, user-friendly reporting mechanisms.
Gather requirements with stakeholders, understand business needs, and define key performance indicators (KPIs).
Develop and maintain data models, queries, and ETL processes for dashboards and reports.
Optimize reports and dashboards for performance, usability, and accessibility.
Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business decisions.
Document reporting processes, data sources, and dashboard functionality for knowledge sharing and maintenance.
Train and support end-users in dashboard navigation and data interpretation.
Monitor and troubleshoot data quality issues, working with technical teams to resolve discrepancies.
Participate in agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver analytics solutions.
