About The Position

The Business Analyst 3 will perform senior-level business analysis for complex, emerging technology hardware and software projects supporting the Mainframe Reports and Extract effort at the Railroad Commission of Texas. The position analyzes and documents multiple interrelated report projects, with a data-focused scope that includes data analysis, root cause analysis of data errors, data-flow documentation, report development, and publishing data to the DIR Open Data Portal or the RRC website. The role uses multiple methods to gather, develop, and document requirements; reviews, assesses, and develops business processes; creates and validates user acceptance testing; and provides research and special-project support to users. The analyst ensures deliverables and materials are maintained according to established processes and procedures, meet consistent quality standards, and use accepted business-analysis methodologies. The position requires knowledge and background in Power BI, Snowflake, and data publishing. It operates under limited to minimal direction or supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment, and may assign and/or supervise the work of others.

Requirements

At least 8 years of strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in English.
At least 8 years of experience gathering requirements and creating reports.
At least 8 years of experience facilitating the creation and analysis of business requirements and working with business-area personnel to design technical solutions.
At least 5 years participating in and providing guidance to business teams in developing and completing user acceptance testing, training, and implementation-related activities.
At least 2 years of experience with Snowflake and Power BI.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
