About The Position

The Bus Driver operates a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and performs related transportation and vehicle-care duties. The position is part-time, up to 25 hours weekly, and is based in Beckley, West Virginia. The stated pay rate is $15.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of experience operating an automotive vehicle, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid state CDL driver’s license.
Air brakes and passenger endorsements.
Approved background check and motor vehicle request.

Responsibilities

Transport members to and from the Corps each Sunday.
Transport children to and from afternoon activities.
Transport Home League members to and from the Fellowship Hall.
Transport children to and from day camp and during day camp trips.
Transport groups for summer camp.
Pick up and deliver miscellaneous items as needed.
Deliver and pick up mail to and from the post office.
Drive carefully and comply with traffic signs and road and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety.
Park the vehicle in a safe, clearly marked parking space and lock its doors when it is not in use.
Fuel the vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and Salvation Army standards.
Record all mileage on standard forms and ensure the records are accurate and complete.
Arrive according to schedule or telephone ahead when severe delays occur.
Maintain control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.
Schedule routine vehicle maintenance to support passenger safety and vehicle longevity.
Wash and clean the vehicle regularly.
Perform other related work as required.
