Build Reliability Engineer II

Relativity Space•Long Beach, CA
•$104,000 - $156,000

About The Position

Relativity Space is seeking a Build Reliability Engineer II to help establish and scale quality processes for its Terran R launch vehicle program. The Reliability team embeds reliability throughout design and production, working closely with design, manufacturing, test, and launch teams to understand hardware and operational constraints and proactively shape decisions. As the program moves from development into production and scaled operations, the team establishes processes, controls, and inspections that support progress without compromising reliability. The role may own quality activities across design, planning, manufacturing, and program execution. It will also drive initiatives that facilitate quality in the growing launch vehicle program, such as developing specifications and walk-down checklists, supporting inspection automation, and assisting with design-for-manufacturing practices. The engineer will build strong working relationships with Engineering, Additive, Manufacturing, Test, and Launch teams.

  • Familiarity with high-volume inspection methods and data-driven acceptance methods.
  • Understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 applications and practices for an aerospace program.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and own a process from scratch and roll it out to a diverse team through effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Support design quality through drawing standardization, design for manufacturability, and configuration management and control.
  • Review work instructions and develop processes and standard rework and repair documentation.
  • Perform in-process build verification and coordinate travelled work.
  • Support program quality processes, including nonconformance tickets, as-built verification, and root cause and corrective action.
  • Drive initiatives that facilitate quality in the growing launch vehicle program.
